The Maw
A sudden sickening of the realm dims the Maw’s glow, and the party must discover what is disrupting the flow of Tifa.
- Tifa drains through the Maw toward Ka’thil’s core.
- Dense air bends light in every direction, making the horizon seem endless.
- In Ka’thil’s sickened state, color fades and inhabitants become dull shells, unless seen through glittering hallucinations.
- The living terrain and luminous life of Ka’thil.
- The Maw’s deep blue glow marks the direction of the core.
The Maw lies within Ka’thil, a self-illuminating living pocket dimension with no planets or outer space; its terrain, air, water, and life generate steady light and heat. Tifa shifts between turquoise, cyan, and violet, while megaflora basins, river veins, and the sacred Pu’thala tree—with glowing, shifting bark veins and copper-toned insects—mark the wider realm.
A sudden sickening of the realm dims the Maw’s glow, and the party must discover what is disrupting the flow of Tifa.
A 15-mile-wide circular abyss opens beneath you, its depths marked by a deep blue glow as mirror-bright Tifa streams toward the core. Above, layered cerulean, violet, magenta, amber, and aqua-white colors ripple without end; there is no sun or traditional sky.

- The Maw is 15 miles wide; Tifa drains into the core.
- Ka’thil has no star or single light source; the realm generates its own light and heat.
- In the corrupted state, vibrant color gives way to dull shells and glittering hallucinations.
