Story So Far

The visitor approached Priya Senn at freight depot dock three on day shift. Priya moved crates without touching them and stood near a stack with a clipboard. The visitor warned Priya that a broadcast had named her with abilities and address and that three organizations had moved since before dawn. Priya led the visitor into the narrow passage by the warehouse wall and denied being on any list. The visitor told Priya there were thirty names on the sheet with nineteen unknown officially. Priya was directed to Sable's old three-story place north of Crane to knock twice then once and say she was cold and heard the building was dry. Priya told the supervisor she felt sick and needed to go home. She repeated the passphrase back before clocking out.
The visitor next located Kellerman at the freight depot maintenance shed after his shift ended at 0600. Kellerman possessed an unknown ability involving missing and reappearing tools and carried a knife. Kellerman tested the visitor through the shed wall and was told about the leaked list. Kellerman opened the door and was sent to the same Sable building with the knock and passphrase. Kellerman repeated the phrase and left via a fence route after being warned others were coming. The sheet now held sixteen names. The visitor left the orange vest and clipboard at the gate.
The visitor reached rail yard signal tower three to find Fenwick who heard things before they happened and had stayed in the yard for six days. The visitor called up to Henrick in the cab and instructed him to wave an arm without answering or stepping out. Henrick remained in the tower after six days. The visitor did not cross out the name and kept the sheet with fifteen names. Henrick later fell in behind the visitor after learning his name was on the list made by three organizations. Henrick was sent to Sable's building north of Crane to knock twice then once and say the coffee is hot.
The visitor examined the list for Marsh at the transit authority near Delancey whose signals arrived before transmission. Infrared vision produced bleeding colors and ghost-trails from exhaustion. The visitor crossed Delancey at Fifth and knocked three times on the frosted-glass door of the narrow building. A woman in her sixties opened the door six inches and revealed two other heat signatures inside. The visitor stated they were looking for Marsh whose name was on a list with fourteen others and mentioned having walked since before dawn.
Inside Sable's small warm ground-floor room Marsh confirmed he felt pre-dawn signals from three organizations coordinating against the list that included Calloway Tomas the notebook kid Priya Kellerman Henrick and Fenwick. Marsh had arrived two hours earlier after the signals shifted. The visitor reported reaching fourteen names but not all.
